Angelina Ramos

Southern Illinois University Head Coach/Recruiter and Nonprofit Executive Director of Coaches of Color Initiative

 

Angelina Ramos is a leader in endurance coaching and a passionate advocate for diversity and mentorship in the profession. She serves as the Executive Director of the Coaches of Color Initiative (COCI), a nonprofit dedicated to breaking down barriers for aspiring endurance coaches of color. Through COCI, Ramos provides selected minority coaches with apprenticeships, mentorship, and access to professional development resources. The initiative works to create pathways to leadership roles and financial sustainability in endurance coaching by offering critical connections, competency-building, and confidence through hands-on mentorship.

In addition to her work with COCI, Ramos is an accomplished collegiate track and field and cross-country coach with nearly two decades of experience at the NCAA Division I and II levels. Currently the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Distance/Middle-Distance Coach at Southern Illinois University, she has built a reputation for developing elite athletes, recruiting top talent, and leading teams to conference championships. Ramos has coached multiple NCAA All-Americans, Olympic Trials qualifiers, and international competitors while making a lasting impact at institutions such as Ball State, UNLV, Saginaw Valley State, and Metropolitan State University of Denver. A co-founder of the USTFCCCA Female Coaching Mentorship Program, she remains dedicated to fostering inclusion and excellence in the coaching profession.
