Missy Price, Ph.D.

Head Women's Soccer Coach, Wellesley College

Dr. Missy Price has been the Head Soccer Coach and an Assistant Professor at Wellesley College since 2016. She led the Blue to postseason appearances during her first two seasons. In addition to coaching the Blue soccer program, Price is the facilitator for the department’s coaching development programming and teaches within the physical education curriculum.  

As well as coaching and teaching at Wellesley, Price serves as a Vice President on the Board of Directors for United Soccer Coaches (Formerly NSCAA) and will ascend to President in 2021 before finishing her term as the organizations Past President for one year. Price also serves on the Coaches Council of the Alliance of Women Coaches. She is a graduate of the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy and the newly created Academy 2.0. Price became the first attendee of these academies to earn both the Judy Sweet and Cecile Reynaud Coaching Mastery Awards.

Price is the former head coach at the University of Nevada where she guided the Wolf Pack to the Mountain West Conference semifinals in 2012. Off the field, over 50 Nevada student-athletes earned academic all-conference recognition during Price’s tenure with the program. Prior to becoming a head coach, Price was an assistant coach at the University of Nevada, University of Miami, University of Illinois and the University of Virginia. She made four trips to the NCAA Division I tournament as an assistant.

Price, who holds a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma and a US Soccer ‘A’ coaching license. She earned her PhD in Sport Psychology, with a specialization in leadership and life skill development from the University of Virginia in 2010. A 1997 graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in kinesiology, Price also earned a master's degree in sport and exercise psychology from UVA in 1999. Price played collegiately as a goalkeeper at Maryland from 1993-1997, leading the Terrapins to two NCAA quarterfinal appearances.

Price has conducted various leadership, sport psychology and life skills presentations, programs and workshops. She has presented at United Soccer Coaches conventions and coaching academies, as well as several other coaching symposiums. She has a passion for coaching education and fostering positive coach-athlete relationships. Price has also authored and co-authored work on leadership and life skills that has been published in academic journals, including: The Journal of Applied Sport PsychologyThe Encyclopedia of Sports Medicine and The Sport Psychologist.
