Kristi King

Varsity Head Hockey Coach, Centennial High School

Coach Kristi King played hockey for a total of 17 years before making the switch over to the coaching side. She played six years on Stillwater’s Varsity hockey team from 7th grade through her senior year. Throughout this time, she helped lead her team to a State Consolation and two State Championship titles. She was captain of both her fast-pitch and hockey team. Each year she was selected to attend USA Player Development Camps in both St. Cloud and Rochester, NY. In addition, she was also a prospect for the USA U-18 National team.

After high school, she went on to play Division I college hockey on a full scholarship. She played one year at the University of Maine and another at Bemidji State University before her career was cut short.

Coach Kristi has worked in the summer at USA National Camps the last couple of years and is a certified level 4 USA hockey coach.  She spent (2012-2013) as her first year of coaching volunteering for the Centennial hockey team. The 2017-2018 season marked her fifth season as head coach and her sixth season with the program.  In the last 5 years under Coach King, the Cougars have won their Conference three times and won their section for the first time in ten years this season. They made history in the program by placing second in State, losing in the state championship game 2-1 against Edina.  Kristi’s coaching record is 92-42-6.
