Julie Manning

Executive Associate Athletics Director, Gopher Athletics

Manning has more than 25 years of administrative and coaching experience with Big 12 and Pac-12 schools. She was inducted into the National Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000. Manning joins the Minnesota athletics department’s staff from the University of Wyoming, where she has served as the senior associate athletics director of sports administration and the senior woman administrator for the past 2.5 years. While at Wyoming, Manning oversaw the department’s coordination with Title IX, while also monitoring and developing department-wide initiatives tied to diversity, inclusion and student-athlete development. She chaired the department’s strategic planning group and represented Wyoming at Mountain West Conference and NCAA meetings. She also served on several conference-level committees. Prior to her time with Wyoming, Manning spent nine years at the University of Colorado, where she spent the last 7.5 years as an associate athletics director for compliance, financial aid and administration, and three months during 2013 as the interim senior woman administrator. Manning directly oversaw six sport programs in addition to responsibilities as the department’s Title IX coordinator and the chair of the department’s Gender Equity Committee. She also managed human resources and compliance. While working with compliance, Manning oversaw all areas of Colorado’s comprehensive compliance program. She began her career in athletics at Iowa State University, where she worked for nearly 20 years as the school’s head women’s golf coach.Manning graduated from Iowa State in 1983 with a degree in Physical Education with a Coaching endorsement. During her undergraduate career she played on the Iowa State women’s golf team for three years. She also studied Sports Management as a graduate student at Iowa State.
